Best Weight Loss Lunch: No Carbs

Coleslaw makes a great side dish—cabbage is low in calories and high in fiber.

In addition to its cancer-fighting ability, cabbage lowers “bad” LDL cholesterol, is a good source of fiber, and is high in vitamin C and vitamin K. It also provides you with calcium, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B6, manganese and folate. It is also high in glutamine, an amino acid with anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to all these health benefits, cabbage is also low in calories, at only 50 calories per cup.

Here is the Recipe:

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise

3 tablespoons Dijon mustard

3 tablespoons cider vinegar

1 1⁄2 teaspoons celery seed

1 teaspoon granular sugar substitute

1 small (1- to 1 1⁄2-pound) head green cabbage, shredded (TK cups)

1 small (1- to 1 1⁄2-pound) head red cabbage, shredded (TK cups)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper


Instructions

Whisk together mayonnaise,mustard, vinegar, celery seed, and sugar substitute.Add cabbage and toss to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper and refrigerate until ready to serve.
